Introduction
WHAT ?
1001wonders.org (formerly world-heritage-tour.org) is listing 1001 cultural and natural sites around the world and documenting them in panophotographies - interactive 360 x 180 degrees imaging.
Today 303 sites have been visited : 262 are available on this web site and 41 are currently in post-production and will soon be uploaded. Altogether there are 1986 panophotographies.
WHY ?
This project is for education purposes and for those who are unable to travel for whatever reason. It is also a testimony to future generations.
HOW ?
Sites are chosen and classified by online members based on :
- the Intangible Heritage Lists ;
- the Man and the Biosphere Programme ;
- the Memory of the World Programme ;
- the World Heritage List ;
- the World Monuments Fund Watch Lists.
